Home decor - less is more.

Wow. Long time no talk. Hello! I hope you've been well!

Life has been busy. I am getting anxious to be done with school and move back home this summer. I need some warm weather, that's for sure. I have not been doing much besides school, work, and watching my shows. This weather has been helping my mood lately so that's a plus! I know it will be short-lived because it is only February and let's be real, winter isn't over until end of March - middle of April, so I am soaking in this sunshine to get me through these next few months!

With spring on the way and holidays over, our house is in need of some fresh colors. After the holidays I took down our Christmas decor, packed it away in my favorite totes, and said goodbye to my cute little gnomes until next season. Empty. The house felt empty. There was no more giant tree taking up our little living room, the fireplace looked bare without our stockings, and my favorite throw pillows no longer filled our couch with pretty Christmas colors. It was a naked house. But of course that did not last long. Soon I was studying the spaces in our house to decide what colors, theme, and personality I wanted to give them. Here's where my go-to saying comes in: less is more. Growing up my mom told me this all the time. It works with everything and I think that's why I love it so much.

No, it's not spring yet, but I need to have happy vibes in our house, so let's pretend it's spring. I switched out the Christmas themed throw pillows with fun yellows and grays, replaced the gnomes with greenery, put light colored hand towels in the kitchen, and filled my main buffet vase with some pink pampas-looking stuff. The changes were small, but the difference in the house was huge. I love how some simple changes can transform a space without doing a lot to it. When it comes time to switch out decor (if you use the same decor all year, I'm jealous of the space you're saving), remember, less is more. You don't need to go crazy in Target's spring section, but if you do, just tell me when and we can get coffee beforehand.
