And then there was you.

Our home never had a space for a changing table, crib, or rocking chair.
Our sink was never filled with bottles, pump parts, or pacifiers.
Our bathtub never had bubbles, a bath chair, or toys.
And then there was you.
Our laundry never consisted of tiny socks, tiny shirts, or tiny pants.
Our living room never had a play mat, baby toys, or books.
Our house was never filled with the noises of little coos or small giggles.
And then there was you.
Our back seat never held a car seat, diaper bag, or blankets.
Our plans were never made around feeding schedules, naps, or bedtime.
Our sleep was never interrupted for a midnight snack, diaper change, or snuggles.
And then there was you.
Our budget never allocated for diapers and wipes.
Our date nights never meant finding a babysitter.
Our shopping trips never visited the baby section.
And then there was you.
Our bags had never been packed for a hospital stay.
Our dogs were never taught how to walk carefully around the house.
Our nightly prayers never included praying for our daughter.
And then there was you.
Our hearts never knew they could love something so much.
And now, somehow, we can't remember a life before you - a house without a crib, a car without a carseat, our arms without a beautiful, perfect baby.
And then...there was you.
Love,
Mama
